Dirty Bits needed a loud, tough, beautiful logo for a foot balm.

"We're launching a brand called Dirty Bits, and the first product is Dirty Bits Lemon and Sun Foot Balm. We want our brand to be tough and loud, irreverent and confident. We don't want to shy about things like foot fungus - it's a dirty disgusting job but someone has to do it and we aim to do it well."

The client wanted loud colors and strong lines to differentiate them from their competitors who are either overly clinical/medicinal or “all from the same coffee shop/yoga mat school of design.” They wanted to be upfront about not being afraid to help people by tackling their dirty problems. “Strong lines work because the brand voice is tough and about getting the job done, but being strong and loud doesn’t have to be ugly.”

The client’s only product at the time this was designed was their lemon and sun foot balm, but they communicated that more products would follow. I intentionally designed this logo to support future products without having to materially modify the logo We discussed that the foot could easily be replaced with a different icon or image while keeping the rest of the logo the same to retain brand recognition.
Below, I’ve showcased both versions of the logo, as well as mock-ups I presented to them to show how each would look on packaging.
